Virender Sehwag - An Unclaimed Prodigy

Saw the first glimpse of you in a charity match in Delhi. You were blasting the opposition with ease. You literally murdered everyone out there but paid the right respect to none other than Anil Kumble. That was the time when your game was still developing.

The one fine day, at a friends house. I came across a photo of yours and when asked. He told me that he is your cousin and showed me the Cricket bat and the SG ball that you have gifted him. Chapter Ended.

The ODI Debut: Not the most impressive one. Out for 1 against a formidable Pakistan bowling attack and against the only bowler to clock 100 MPH twice.

As opposed to the ODI debut his Test debut, he scripted his innings with a Debut Hundred. There are a lot of players who have achieved this feat and it's not that rare either. What is rare is the way in which he scored it. It wasn't in the flat pitches of the Sub-continent. It was in Bloemfontein, South Africa against the likes of Pollock, Kallis and Ntini.

Since then, he has been setting a trend of what others are trying to imitate or are still trying to figure and became of the most feared rest batsman of his times. His stardom shot through stratosphere When in the absence of Sachin Tendulkar he blasted a quick century to help India qualify for the finals of the tournament.

He is not at the level of the Great SRT but I am sure he has already been immortalized by his beloved Indian Cricket Fans. He is a treat to watch. An entertainer of all together a different level. His exploits in Multan, Desolation of the Aussies at MCG on Boxing Day, becoming the number 1 test batsman or the carving an Everest of ODI score out of imagination which is not only different but Inscrutable.

More than the Sehwag in the ODI format, I loved the Sehwag in test matches. He wrote a customized coaching manual of his own. After the first hour, he would take the bowlers apart and he would go on to lay a foundation that was hard to shake.

The great thing about Sehwag is that he has a mind of his own and he wouldn't alter his style in order to make a comeback. He has nothing more to prove and he has done it all. At the end of the day, you would find him smiling in victories even if he is restricted to street cricket. Though everyone, who watched him even for once. They would want a comeback and they would want another great treat to their eyes.

In my mind, there is only one way to describe him. He is an EPIC and he is Virender Sehwag.
